Xfinity Reality Bar

Reality TV fans watch shows like sports fans do — live and with friends. And, like sports, reality TV is best watched on cable to get the most out of the experience. Xfinity has more reality TV shows than any other cable provider, but had yet to establish themselves as leaders in the genre.

We created Xfinity Reality Bar, the world’s first bar designed for reality fans. A place where everybody knows Lisa Vanderpump’s name. A place where reality TV fans can cheer on their favorite stars. A place where no one is shamed for relishing in pure trash TV.

The bar became the set of Xfinity’s own on-demand TV show with 27 reality TV star guests. Each night, we filmed a live after show from the bar’s stage that brought together stars and podcasters from different shows and networks. We created a total of 351 pieces of content in 4 days.

Experiential Design

We took a sports bar and changed everything about it to celebrate the reality genre. Sports memorabilia was replaced with reality TV artifacts like the duck phone from Jersey Shore. Beer taps were replaced with Lisa Vanderpump’s champagne. The dark walls were covered up with reality themed photo-ops like Stassi’s #OOTD mirror. RuPaul sent us flags that barely fit through the door.

Digital + Social

We created an in-bar Snapchat filter, custom GIPHYs for Instagram, and made it easy for every Xfinity customer to follow along at home with a Reality Bar takeover on the X1 UI.
